Bitcoin Whale Cuts $114M Short Position Amid Rising Prices
An anonymous trader on Hyperliquid has made a massive move to avoid forced liquidation of their Bitcoin short position. The trader, who had initially opened a $114.4 million short position using 40x leverage, closed around 250 BTC to trim the losses and maintain their position. This move reduced their losses by approximately $33,400 but still left them with a substantial $98.97 million short position.
The trader's decision to close some of their positions may have slightly raised the liquidation price, giving them more time before being forced out of the market entirely. However, if Bitcoin's price continues to rise past the new threshold, it could trigger a cascade of short liquidations and add significant buying pressure to the market.
