Bitcoin Whale Cuts Losses on Hyperliquid, Faces $1M Liquidation Risk
A prominent Bitcoin whale has trimmed its substantial short position on the Hyperliquid derivatives platform, locking in a loss of nearly $1 million over the past two weeks. The address starting with 0xff84 reduced its short position by 300 BTC approximately 40 minutes ago, according to on-chain analyst ai_9684xtpa.
The whale had been holding a short position worth roughly $125 million, betting that Bitcoin's price would decline. After the reduction, the position now stands at 1,700 BTC, valued at approximately $108 million. The trade has generated cumulative losses of $988,000 since August 5, reflecting the market's upward movement against the short position.
The remaining position currently shows an unrealized profit of $96,000, suggesting that Bitcoin's price has dipped slightly since the reduction. However, the position faces a forced liquidation price of $63,710.5, a critical level that traders and observers are monitoring closely.
