Bitcoin Whale Loses $1.6M in Sudden Price Drop After CPI Data Release
A large Bitcoin investor, known as a whale, suffered significant losses after a sudden price drop triggered by the release of Consumer Price Index (CPI) data. The investor held a long position worth $70 million, which was liquidated at $76,308, resulting in a loss of $1.6 million.
Had the price not dropped, the whale would have earned an additional $830,000 in profit. However, the position was reopened at $77,875 for $13.68 million notional, indicating the investor's continued confidence in Bitcoin's value.
The current price of Bitcoin sits at $79,253.4, above key support levels such as the EMA50 and EMA200. The MACD golden cross remains bullish, while the RSI is neutral within Bollinger bands with an upper resistance level at $79,779.08.
