Bitcoin Whales Accumulate Record Amounts as Exchange Supply Hits Seven-Year Low

The behavior of large Bitcoin holders has been divergent from mid-sized investors in recent months. Over the last 60 days, whales with 1,000 to 10,000 BTC accumulated 66,700 BTC, bringing their total balance to 3.09 million BTC. This marks the highest accumulation activity for these whales since February.

In contrast, holders with 100 to 1,000 BTC sold 77,800 BTC in the same period. The market is splitting, and larger investors are buying while smaller holders are selling.

A dormant wallet activated on May 10, 2026, moved 500 BTC valued at $41 million. This address remained inactive since November 2013, though the coins were worth only $457,000 when first received.

The supply of Bitcoin on exchanges has reached a seven-year low of 2.21 million BTC, reflecting a 27% contraction from 3.3 million BTC in 2023. This reduction indicates that investors are moving coins to private custody.
