Bitcoin Whales Awaken: Dormant Wallets Start Moving Again
Recent data from Galaxy Research has revealed that six dormant Bitcoin wallets created between 2011 and 2014 have started moving again. These addresses transferred a total of 553.59 BTC between August 16 and 26, with a current value of approximately $40 million.
One of the notable points is that one of these wallets had been inactive for over 15 years, indicating that some assets from Bitcoin's very early days are starting to move again on the chain.
The transfers were made to addresses not linked to any known cryptocurrency exchanges, with the exception of one wallet that sent 40 BTC to Boerse Stuttgart Digital. However, this does not necessarily indicate that these Bitcoins were sold, and may have been transferred for a different institutional transaction purpose.
