Bitcoin Whales Boost Holdings by Over $9 Billion as Price Continues to Rise
Bitcoin's price has been steadily increasing in recent months, and larger holders, known as 'whales', have been accumulating more of the cryptocurrency. According to data from crypto analytics firm Santiment, wallets holding between 100 and 1,000 BTC have added around $9.60 billion worth of Bitcoin since July.
These wallet accumulations can include institutional and custodian addresses, but also private investors and exchange cold wallets. The report notes that a single investor can hold Bitcoin across multiple wallet addresses, or one wallet can hold assets on behalf of multiple customers.
Despite the potential for over-counting, the data suggests that these larger holders have been tracking Bitcoin's price movements more closely than other wallet groups over the past five years. In fact, since July 15, 2026, wallets in this category have increased their holdings by around 2.20 per cent, from about 5.16 million BTC to 5.20 million BTC at current prices.
The report also notes that strong spot ETF inflows provide another signal of ongoing institutional demand for Bitcoin. In the past two days alone, these funds recorded inflows of $999 million and $715 million, taking the combined total to around $1.70 billion.
