Bitcoin Whales Buoyant Despite Price Weakness
Large Bitcoin holders are accumulating more BTC despite the cryptocurrency trading below $65,000. According to on-chain metrics and ETF flow data, buying demand from institutional and accredited investors is increasing while retail sentiment remains weak.
A blockchain analytics firm, Santiment, reported that wallets holding between 10 BTC and 10,000 BTC had amassed over 20,000 BTC since July 29th. At current prices, this represents approximately $1.2 billion in additional Bitcoin acquired.
The divergence in behavior between large holders and small holders suggests an improvement in Bitcoin's trading odds above the $70,000 level while decreasing the likelihood of a drop below $60,000. Analysts attribute the price's fall to uncertainty surrounding the CLARITY Act, lack of directional price movement, and the hacking of Coldcard hardware wallets.
ETF market data shows institutional growth with US spot Bitcoin ETFs seeing $754.69 million in net inflows this week, putting them on track for their best week since April. However, technical indicators suggest that a larger rally may occur if resistance levels are passed, with regulatory news remaining a key factor for investors.
