Bitcoin Whales Rebuild Positions Amid Market Weakness
Bitcoin's largest holders have been accumulating BTC over the past 60 days, adding approximately $2.8 billion to $2.9 billion of exposure. According to onchain data, these whales have accumulated roughly 43,000 BTC since mid-June, despite the broader market remaining weak. This accumulation is particularly notable given that Bitcoin has spent much of this period struggling around the $60,000-$65,000 range.
While smaller investors are moving in the opposite direction, reducing their combined balances by approximately 9,700 BTC during the same period, large holders are rebuilding positions. The current accumulation remains well below some earlier episodes, but it does indicate that supply is moving away from smaller holders and toward entities with larger balance sheets.
However, accumulation does not guarantee a breakout, and Bitcoin continues to face substantial resistance around $65,000. Additionally, corporate activity complicates the whale picture, as Strategy, the world's largest corporate Bitcoin holder, recently sold BTC as part of its new capital-management framework.
