Bitcoin's 23% Surge Triggers Profit-Taking Frenzy
Bitcoin's price surge has triggered a sharp increase in profit-taking by short-term holders. Over the past three days, Bitcoin jumped over 23% in value, pushing its market capitalization up by around $275 billion.
The majority of this activity came from short-term holders who sent about 53,000 BTC to exchanges, with Binance receiving the largest amount since February, a total of 17,800 BTC. This sudden influx of coins is largely attributed to speculative activity rather than structural selling, according to on-chain analyst Darkfost.
Notably, long-term holders who had held their Bitcoin for more than six months did not participate in this sell-off, further supporting the notion that short-term speculation was driving the market's volatility. This sharp price increase and subsequent profit-taking may have significant implications for the digital-asset market.
