Bitcoin's Bart Simpson Pattern Tests Bulls as Fed Decision Looms
Bitcoin's price has been consolidating near $77,500 after surging from roughly $64,420 to nearly $80,700 in six trading days last week. This rapid move is being referred to as a 'Bart Simpson' setup by traders.
The pattern, which describes a sharp spike followed by a period of tight sideways chop and then a snap back toward the starting point, has been circulating in crypto trading circles since 2015.
However, Bitcoin's four-hour chart shows mixed signals, with the Relative Strength Index (RSI) at 44.8, indicating a leaning bearish trend but not oversold territory that typically accompanies a real breakdown.
Analysts have flagged $75,800 as the level that would confirm the bearish setup, and a break below this level could trigger a flash crash, with prices potentially giving back the entire August rally in a matter of hours.
