Bitcoin's Breakout Faces Crucial Test at $73,230
Bitcoin's explosive ascent from $63,000 to $78,000 has hit its first major hurdle. On August 23rd, Bitcoin touched a high of $77,400 before pulling back to around $76,200. The cryptocurrency's chart shows that it sliced through several key levels on the way up, including the descending trendline that had capped the chart since May.
The breakout's momentum carried BTC into the $77.4 Fibonacci resistance zone, where it stalled. Now, the pullback is being tested at the 0.618 Fibonacci retracement of $73,230.
A close above $77,400 puts the $82,800 swing high back in play, but a decisive breakdown below $73,230 would shift the spotlight to the $69,000-$70,280 band.
