ZachXBT's New Website Excludes Countries with Troubled Law Enforcement
ZachXBT, a pseudonymous American blockchain investigator, has been uncovering crypto-fraud cases for quite some time now. He recently launched a new website to handle these investigations, but it comes with some limitations.
The website may 'likely automatically reject' requests from victims based on their country of origin. ZachXBT has specifically barred Canada, the UK, India, Nigeria, Morocco, Algeria, and Bangladesh from getting support due to his past experiences with law enforcement in these countries.
In some cases, he provided evidence to authorities but was unable to persuade them to take action. For example, when he interacted with Indian law enforcement on cases involving frozen cryptocurrency and funds allegedly connected to the Lazarus Group, they made mistakes during investigations, including confusing a phishing website with a legitimate platform.
The goal of this new filtering system is to focus ZachXBT's limited resources on countries where authorities are more likely to act on blockchain evidence. This approach has both supporters and critics, with some arguing that victims should not be penalized due to their country's law-enforcement system.
