Bitcoin's Brief Breach Above $80,000 Ends in Reversal
Bitcoin briefly broke above $80,000 for the first time since May, but was unable to sustain its gains and slid back into the $77,000 range. The cryptocurrency's price surge from the $64,000 range to above $80,000 was fueled by intense buying pressure, particularly in U.S. spot Bitcoin exchange-traded funds (ETFs). However, this trend reversed on August 28, with total net outflows of $201.9 million.
The largest outflow was seen in ARKB, jointly managed by Ark Invest and 21Shares, which lost $114.9 million. In contrast, Morgan Stanley's MSBT attracted $9.3 million in fresh capital. The reversal of ETF flows is a significant development, given that prices surged more than 20% in a short period.
The rapid ascent has created a volume 'void' between $68,000 and $76,000, which offers weak support on the downside but minimal resistance on the upside. For Bitcoin to continue its upward momentum, it needs to break above $78,670 on a daily closing basis with volume. A breakout would target $81,455 as the first objective.
