Bitcoin’s Bullish Alignment Nears After Over a Year
Bitcoin’s 50-, 100-, and 200-day moving averages are approaching a bullish alignment that has historically accompanied major price rallies. This alignment, last observed in June 2025, requires the 50-day average to be above the 100-day average, and the 100-day average to be above the 200-day average. Giottus CEO Vikram Subburaj notes that this setup has often signaled strong upward momentum in the past.
Currently, the 50-day average is at $79,495, the 100-day average at $79,493, and the 200-day average at $79,539. The 50-day average is just $2 above the 100-day average but still below the 200-day average. For the bullish alignment to fully materialize, the 100-day average must rise above the 200-day average, while the 50-day average remains above both.
Historical data shows that similar alignments have preceded significant price surges. For instance, an alignment from October 2020 to May 2021 saw Bitcoin climb from $13,600 to over $64,000. Another alignment from November 2023 to May 2024 coincided with a rise from $35,000 to $73,000. However, not all alignments have led to sustained gains; a June 2024 alignment lasted only 20 days and saw a 10% price drop.
Bitcoin has recently rallied over 40% in the third quarter, nearing $87,000 before slowing around $85,000 due to a stronger dollar index. Subburaj emphasizes that the key test will be whether Bitcoin can maintain its position above the 50-day moving average, currently around $79,500, during any potential correction. This threshold will be closely watched to determine if the alignment translates into a lasting bullish trend.
