Bitcoin's Capitulation Phase May Be Near, Analysts Say
Bitcoin has been stuck in a range-bound trend near $60,000 since June, but market analysts believe it may be nearing its bottom. According to VanEck's 'Bitcoin Market Capitulation Check' model, 8 out of 12 market indicators have shown extreme bearish signals, suggesting that the market has already experienced price 'capitulation'. The researchers warn that while this data points to a potential accumulation phase, it cannot be used as a definitive indicator for short-term buying.
Historically, Bitcoin's average duration from market peak to maximum drawdown was approximately 12.7 months, and the current correction has entered its 11th month. Based on these patterns, the market may complete its bottoming process between September and November and enter an accumulation phase. However, VanEck cautions that market capitulation signals are not a guarantee of future performance.
Other analysts, such as Bitfinex, believe that Bitcoin is in the mid-to-late stages of a bear market, with the price sandwiched between long-term holder realized prices and short-term holder realized prices. Meanwhile, Arthur Hayes predicts that a Fed balance sheet expansion would be bullish for Bitcoin, historically correlated with rallies.
