Bitcoin's Global Adoption Hurdles May Delay Peak

CryptoQuant CEO Ki Young Ju has pointed out that the current Bitcoin bull cycle may be heavily influenced by global institutional adoption and spot exchange-traded funds (ETFs). While the US has been at the forefront of institutional investment in Bitcoin, especially after the approval of spot ETFs in early 2024, other regions like Asia and Europe are still developing similar products and infrastructure.

Ju noted that if countries such as South Korea lift restrictions on spot Bitcoin ETFs and improve their underlying infrastructure, more institutions would likely hold Bitcoin. He used an anecdotal example to illustrate this point: when a regional bank employee recommends a spot Bitcoin ETF to a grandmother as a savings product.

The CEO emphasized the importance of global institutional adoption in driving growth, adding legitimacy and stability to the market, and attracting conservative investors. However, he cautioned that market predictions are inherently uncertain, and the actual peak of the cycle will depend on various macroeconomic factors, regulatory developments, and investor sentiment.
