Bitcoin's Gold Correlation Hits Unusual Heights
Bitcoin's price action has taken on an unusual similarity to gold's in recent times, according to Bitfinex analysts. They point out that investors worried about government debt and loose monetary policy are flocking to both metals and cryptocurrencies as safe-haven assets.
The correlation between Bitcoin (BTC) and gold has reached a level where something usually forces them apart, but the next stress test will reveal whether BTC holds with gold or falls with stocks.
Bitfinex notes that this cycle may be turning past the gold link. The firm's Delta-Thermo Market Multiple was 2.03, just below the 2.5x level that signals the start of a bull phase. Analysts see this as the beginning of a bull run, not a top.
The current scenario is reminiscent of a similar period in 2024, where strategists at JPMorgan attributed the move to 'concerns about debt debasement' due to high government deficits.
