Bitcoin's Gold Rush: Price Correlation Hits Six-Year High
Bitcoin's price has become increasingly correlated with gold over the past six months, with the current link surpassing its previous record set in November 2020. According to data from recent months, Bitcoin and Gold have moved together more closely than they did just a few months ago. In fact, their correlation reached 0.56 for the most recent four-month period, more than doubling from 0.22 in March.
This shift has been observed as investors have increasingly turned to both Bitcoin and gold as safe-haven assets. The approach aims to cover the risk that only one asset retains value under financial stress. However, data suggests this separation is fading, with Bitcoin's price becoming less aligned with traditional technology stocks such as those found in the Nasdaq-100.
The correlation between Bitcoin and Gold now surpasses the previous record set in November 2020, marking the strongest connection between the two assets since 2019. Bitwise Asset Management has stated that the current Bitcoin-Gold correlation is the highest in nearly six years, citing recent figures that start at 0.50.
