Bitcoin's Golden Cross Signal Sparks Hopes of New Rally Amid Ongoing Macro Pressures
The price of Bitcoin has been fluctuating in the $82,000-$85,000 range after testing above $87,000. Binance Research has released an updated analysis to examine the current technical outlook and potential future price movements.
In September, a 'golden cross' formation occurred when Bitcoin's 50-day moving average crossed above its 200-day moving average. This event is historically significant because it typically precedes a period of strong price growth. Binance Research notes that this formation bears similarities to the golden cross of October 2015, where Bitcoin surged by approximately 150% from its peak level in the following period.
The report analyzed 12 past examples of golden crosses and found that in cases where Bitcoin remained below its 200-day moving average for at least 150 days, the maximum gains seen in the following year ranged from approximately 100% to 600%. However, Binance Research also noted that historical similarities do not guarantee future price movements.
Macroeconomic pressures persist, with the US 10-year Treasury yield having risen to 5.17%, its highest level since 2007, and interest rate expectations putting pressure on Bitcoin. The report emphasizes that technical signals as well as inflation and employment data will be closely monitored in the coming period to determine if Bitcoin can maintain its upward trend.
