Bitcoin's Macro Headwinds Contribute to 32% First-Half Decline
Bitcoin's performance in the first half of 2026 has been lackluster, according to Binance Research. The cryptocurrency ended June near $60,000 after falling about 32% since January.
This decline marks a third consecutive quarterly loss across broader financial markets worldwide, underscoring the depth and persistence of the current market downturn.
The asset has also fallen more than 50% from its October 2025 record high near $126,000, with over 275 days spent below that peak.
Binance Research attributed Bitcoin's weak performance mainly to broader macroeconomic conditions rather than crypto-specific developments. The report noted markets shifted from liquidity-driven expectations toward economic fundamentals as monetary policy remained restrictive throughout the first half of 2026.
