Bitcoin's Meteoric Rise Sparks Fears of Short-Term Pullback
Bitcoin has reached an overbought reading of 80 on its daily Relative Strength Index (RSI), indicating a possible short-term pullback. The cryptocurrency's rapid ascent began on August 19, with Bitcoin gaining more than 7% to approximately $69,300 in just one day.
The rally continued for several sessions, with Bitcoin surging roughly 7% each day and reclaiming key moving averages (MA). By press time, BTC was trading at $77,037, up almost 2% in the last 24 hours and 22% over the past week.
Analysts believe that a cascading short squeeze played a significant role in the advance, with billions of dollars in leveraged short positions being liquidated across major exchanges. This forced buying from those liquidations amplified upward pressure in an environment of relatively limited supply, producing the sharp price surge.
