Bitcoin's Mixed Signals Spark Concern Over Price Sustainability
Bitcoin's surge past $80K has raised questions about its ability to maintain its bullish momentum. The market is sending mixed signals, leaving traders wondering if this is a local high or the start of a rebound.
According to Alphractal, Bitcoin's 1-year active supply has dropped to 7.49 million, indicating that fewer coins are being moved from wallets. This suggests investors may be holding onto their BTC due to expectations of a rally in the near term.
However, other factors suggest a shift in market dynamics. CryptoQuant reports that Bitcoin's exchange reserves have fallen after reaching a local peak on August 17th, indicating less Bitcoin available for sale. But recent data shows significant sell pressure, with sellers offloading $1.2 billion worth of BTC between August 23rd and September 1st.
The market is also seeing negative apparent demand, suggesting distribution may be ongoing. Netflows show around 127,940 Bitcoin exiting exchanges, further indicating weaker demand and a hike in available supply.
