Bitcoin's Monday Slide Sparks Market Pressure
Bitcoin's recent decline below $63,000 on Monday has sparked renewed pressure on Ethereum and XRP. The cryptocurrency market's total capitalization fell by about $40 billion to $2.22 trillion.
The drop in Bitcoin left it more than 4% lower over the week, with its market dominance below 56.5%. Ethereum and XRP followed suit, falling below $1,850 and struggling to remain above $1.05 respectively.
The Coldcard wallet exploit, which resulted in reported losses of $114 million, has added an unusual layer of uncertainty to the market. However, the reaction remained surprisingly restrained compared to the scale of the security breach, with implied volatility staying near 37% and derivatives positioning offering no simple directional signal.
