Bitcoin's Options Market Sees Surge as Price Ticks Closer to $80,000
Bitcoin's recent price surge toward $80,000 has sparked increased bullish options bets in the market, according to an analysis from Glassnode. The firm noted that Bitcoin's rapid rebound is starting to shift momentum in the options market, with volatility reviving and open interest recovering.
The analysis pointed out that Bitcoin options open interest has risen quickly in recent days to nearly 550,000 contracts, while derivatives positioning and market participation are picking up again. The implied volatility index (DVOL) has rebounded sharply from recent lows to around 41, indicating a return of demand for volatility.
Moreover, the analysis noted that hedging demand against downside risk is declining, as evidenced by the drop in 25-delta skew across expiries. This suggests that market participants are becoming less cautious and more optimistic about Bitcoin's prospects.
