Bitcoin's Path to $80,000: Reclaiming Key Levels and Overcoming Macro Headwinds
Bitcoin's recent attempts to break through $80,000 have been met with resistance, and its fourth attempt is starting from a weaker position. The current price of Bitcoin stands at $76,408, which is about 4.7% below the resistance level that has repeatedly turned buyers away since late August.
The repeated rejections can be attributed to a large concentration of long-term holders who have been taking profits between $77,100 and $80,200. In fact, 539,000 BTC moved from these holders in this range during a 30-day period in 2026, making it the year's largest concentration of profit-taking.
Additionally, the 365-day moving average adds another layer of resistance at $81,700, which Bitcoin has remained below since June. This means that breaking through $80,000 is not just about overcoming a psychological barrier but also about surpassing a longer-term technical level.
