Bitcoin's Price Plunge Ends with Bounce Back to $77K
Bitcoin's recent price action has been marked by significant volatility, with the cryptocurrency dropping as low as $76,040 before rebounding to its current range of $77,000-$77,500.
The short-term charts, including the 1-hour and 4-hour charts, show a descending trend in bitcoin's price, with lower highs and choppier markets from mid-August lows around $62,470 to the mid-$70,000s.
However, the daily chart paints a different picture, showing a months-long recovery that reached an annotated high of $82,833 after the late-summer push into the low $80,000s. The price has since backed off but remains above the August and early-September highs.
The oscillators on the daily chart are largely neutral, with most indicators sitting in the middle range. However, momentum at 11 and bull bear power (BBP) at -1,171 lean positive and bullish, while the moving average convergence divergence level (MACD) at 1,814 takes a negative, bearish reading.
The moving averages on both short-term and long-term charts tell a more optimistic story. The bigger trend is still standing while the short-term machinery works through a rough patch. Bulls are not out of the woods yet, but getting back through roughly $78,000-$78,800 looks like the hurdle that could finally move the needle.
