Bitcoin's Price Surge May Signal End of Bear Market
Bitcoin's price has risen 23% over the last week, a significant change in the crypto market. With over 15 years of history available for Bitcoin, analysts can use this data to predict what might happen next.
The cryptocurrency has historically moved in cycles lasting about four years, with bull markets followed by bear markets that can last from a few months to over a year. Previous bear markets saw lows of $152 in January 2015, $3,200 in December 2018, and $15,500 in November 2022.
However, the current situation is different, as institutional inflows may have made Bitcoin more resilient due to the SEC's approval of Bitcoin ETFs in January 2024. At its lowest point this cycle, Bitcoin hit a low of $57,748 on July 1, with a decline of 54% from its all-time high.
Bitcoin has also surpassed its 200-day moving average, a benchmark often used to gauge the market's sentiment. This suggests that Bitcoin may be in a recovery phase. However, recoveries tend to be choppy and can take time, with an average recovery time of 643 days from the bear market bottom to the previous high.
