K33 Sees Weak Trading Volumes Despite Securing Crucial EU License
K33, a digital finance platform, reported mixed results for its second quarter of 2026. The company saw a sharp slowdown in cryptocurrency trading volumes, with Q2 numbers falling about 30% from the previous quarter. However, K33 secured an unconditional MiCA license from the Norwegian Financial Supervisory Authority, which it plans to use to expand into Sweden, Denmark, Finland, and Germany.
The company's first half of 2024 revenue growth reached 10%, but Q2 was hurt by weak crypto-market activity. Management said that the focus is now shifting from licensing to commercialization and growth. K33 also launched a lending product that allows clients to borrow against Bitcoin or other cryptocurrency collateral without selling long-term holdings.
The company's CEO, Torbjørn Bull Jenssen, stated that K33 is 'more than just a crypto exchange' but rather a platform built for businesses and investors. He emphasized the importance of the MiCA license in creating a competitive advantage for the company.
