Bitcoin's Price Surge Triggers $544 Million in Crypto Liquidations
Bitcoin's price surge past $81,000 triggered massive liquidations in the crypto market. According to Pluang, more than $544 million in leveraged bets were wiped out within a 24-hour period, with the majority being short positions worth $456 million.
The rally coincided with a sharp drop in the US Dollar Index and a significant decline in USD/JPY, suggesting possible intervention by Japanese authorities. Bitcoin's price rose nearly 4% in a day, reflecting strong market momentum amid currency fluctuations.
Investors betting against Bitcoin faced heavy losses as the cryptocurrency's value climbed rapidly. Fidelity Digital Assets warned that this rally alone does not confirm the end of the bear market, cautioning investors to be cautious.
