Bitcoin's Rally May Be Approaching a Local Top Amid Cooling Risk Appetite
The Crypto Fear & Greed Index has dropped from its peak of 74 to 69, indicating that greed is still dominating sentiment but risk appetite may be cooling off. Despite Bitcoin's recent rally to a near four-month high above $82K, the market seems to be pricing in further upside.
According to Alternative.me, the index dropping below 74 suggests that euphoria has not yet kicked in, and investors are still inclined to hold onto their positions. However, as the index moves closer to 'Extreme Greed', it may signal an overheated market and potentially lead to a bearish turn.
The macro backdrop is also growing more challenging for risk assets, with the US 10Y Treasury yield hovering around 4.8% and rate hike expectations at 60%. This could lead to a tightening of financial conditions, making it increasingly difficult for Bitcoin to continue its rally.
