Bitcoin's Rare August-September Streak Sets Stage for Potential $100K Target
Bitcoin's price surge in August and September is putting it on track for its first positive August-September combination since at least 2013, a pattern that historically sets up a strong 'Uptober'.
CoinGlass data shows Bitcoin gained 24.95% in August, its third-strongest August since 2013 and best since 2017, crushing the historical August average of 2.82%. September is up 7.3% so far with five trading days left in the month, already narrowly topping September 2024 as the strongest September in the dataset.
Bitcoin's two-month gain sits near 34.1%, and including July's 7.36% rise, the third-quarter advance would reach roughly 43.9% if September's gain holds through month-end.
The historical data shows that October has finished positive in 10 of the past 13 years, with an average gain of 19.92% and a median of 14.71%. Following the five prior years with a positive September, Bitcoin still delivered an October gain four times, averaging 16.76%.
The current price would put Bitcoin near $96,800 based on the historical median, while the average would push it to roughly $101,200 if the pattern holds.
