Bitcoin's Recovery Ramps Up Despite Slowing Momentum
Bitcoin's recent surge of approximately 32% over two months has raised questions about whether it's too late to buy into the cryptocurrency.
The price increase started from a low point, with Bitcoin hitting its lowest value at $57,718 on July 1 and closing at $63,694 by the end of July. From this lower base, the current price of around $84,883 represents a 32% gain over two months.
This gain is more like a recovery than a market peak, as Bitcoin is still trading below its yearly open and well below its price a year ago.
Large wallets have been accumulating Bitcoin since the spring, and fund money has been driving demand. U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs attracted $999 million on September 21, their largest inflow since October 2025. Strategy, which retains Bitcoin as its primary treasury asset, has also been increasing its holdings.
However, the momentum of the rally is slowing down, with gains of about 42% over 90 days, 32% over 60 days, and only 8% over the last 30 days. This could mean that buyers are running out of steam or that the market is establishing support to prepare for another push.
Ultimately, it's not too late to buy Bitcoin, as its price remains below its yearly open and well below its price a year ago. The cryptocurrency needs to hold above $80,875 to indicate a shift to positive annual performance.
