Bitcoin's Resistance to Hijacking Scenarios Signaled by Prediction Markets

Bitcoin's resistance to hijacking scenarios has been signaled by prediction markets, according to Stephan Livera, head of education and podcast host at Swan Bitcoin. He questioned the view that participants are supportive of recent attempts to hijack Bitcoin.

Livera noted that both explicit feedback and activity on prediction markets reflect clear opposition to Bitcoin hijacking. This is in contrast to some views that suggest participants are tolerant or even supportive of such scenarios.

The risk of a wipeout becomes irrelevant once Bitcoin is 12 blocks ahead of a competing chain, Livera added. He recently introduced a Bitcoin Node Cost Tracker as concerns rose over network spam, and noted that Bitcoin's nature as money makes it impossible to completely eliminate spam from the network.
