Bitcoin's Road to $100K Hinges on Halving Cycle

Bitcoin investors are optimistic about the cryptocurrency's prospects after its recent 25% rally in August. However, reclaiming the $100,000 price level by the end of 2026 is a daunting task, with odds currently set at just 4% on the Kalshi prediction market for November and 16% for January 2027.

Several factors could influence Bitcoin's price trajectory, including the Digital Asset Market Clarity Act, which has stalled in the Senate. Another potential catalyst is the 'digital gold' investment thesis, but even billionaire investor Ray Dalio thinks most investors would prefer physical gold over Bitcoin.

The Bitcoin halving cycle may be a crucial factor, with three good years followed by one bad year every four years. If the current downturn has indeed bottomed out, as Coinbase Global CEO Brian Armstrong suggests, Bitcoin could be on track to recover and reclaim its $100,000 target in the near future.
