Bitcoin's Strongest August Since 2017 Fuels Caution Ahead of Crucial September Tests
Bitcoin's August price surge has been its strongest since 2017, with a gain of approximately 24% during the month. As of August 31, the cryptocurrency traded near $78,400.
The rally reversed much of the pressure recorded during the first half of 2026, when Bitcoin fell to around $63,000 in mid-August before briefly crossing $80,000 and losing momentum.
U.S. spot Bitcoin exchange-traded funds (ETFs) attracted a record $1.92 billion during their strongest weekly inflow since October 2025, according to SoSoValue.
The Treasury will double its long-end liquidity-support buybacks from $2 billion to at least $4 billion per operation beginning on September 9.
