Bitcoin's Untapped $8B Yield Market: A Fraction of Supply Deployed
Bitcoin's $8.4 billion yield market remains largely untapped, as only 0.52% of its circulating supply is deployed in productive strategies.
A report from Yield Basis and Valueverse found that just 104,105 BTC was deployed as of September 20, representing a mere fraction of the asset's total circulation.
The majority of this working capital is concentrated in lending, accounting for 81% of productive BTC, while staking and restaking make up another 12%. Liquidity strategies remain much smaller, with conventional liquidity provision representing around 5.5% of productive BTC and impermanent-loss-protected models making up just 1.3%.
Yield Basis is positioning itself to address the central problem for bitcoin holders: lending yields that are extremely low, averaging around 0.01%, due to limited demand to borrow BTC itself.
