Bitdeer Cranks Up Bitcoin Mining Power Amidst AI Push
Bitdeer Technologies Group has entered into a co-mining deal with Soluna Holdings at a wind-powered data center in South Texas. Under the agreement, Bitdeer will deploy around 1.93 exahash per second (EH/s) of bitcoin mining capacity to Soluna's Kati 1 facility.
The deployment is set to start in September 2026 and will add to the existing 83 MW of data center capacity at Kati 1, which has already generated its first gross profit during the second quarter of this year. In contrast, Soluna's other facilities, Kati 2 and Dorothy 3, are being positioned for artificial intelligence (AI) and high-performance computing (HPC) development.
Bitdeer is also expanding its AI operation, with plans to reach up to 350 MW of AI cloud data center capacity by the first quarter of 2028. The company has already secured a five-year agreement covering around half of a 9.5 MW facility in Malaysia and holds a $4.7 billion, 16-year lease for AI and HPC capacity in Norway.
