Bitdeer Locks Down Massive Norway Data Center for AI Powerhouses

Bitdeer Technologies Group has secured a massive colocation lease for a new AI data center in Norway, marking a significant expansion into the artificial intelligence sector. The facility, located in Tydal, will have a capacity of between 180 and 225 MW, making it one of the largest data centers in the region.

The tenant behind the lease is reportedly Volta, a $2.4 billion AI cloud startup. However, Bitdeer has not publicly confirmed the identity or valuation of its colocation partner. The development of the site is backed by an agreement signed in March 2026 with Data Center Installations AS.

The focus for colocation at the site primarily involves NVIDIA AI technology, reflecting Bitdeer's strategic shift towards long-term revenue streams that don't depend on crypto market cycles. The company operates Bitcoin mining and HPC data centers across multiple countries, but this lease represents a clear bet on sustained growth in the AI sector.
