Bitdeer Secures $4.7B Data Center Lease for AI-Focused Norway Facility
Bitdeer, a publicly traded Bitcoin mining and infrastructure firm, has secured a massive 16-year data center lease worth up to $4.7 billion.
The deal, which covers 121 megawatts of IT capacity at its Tydal, Norway AI data center, highlights the shift in the crypto mining industry towards energy and compute-intensive operations.
The facility will be configured for Nvidia GPU-based AI workloads, with Volta Infra linked to the tenant. Bloomberg reported that Volta's $10 billion cloud contract is with Anthropic, adding context to the strategic logic of the lease.
The use of substantial financial guarantees suggests both parties are attempting to ensure the agreement is durable through the transition from contract signing to delivery.
