BitFuFu's Prepaid Hashrate Deal Unveiled Amid Declining Production

BitFuFu's reported Bitcoin holdings dropped by 357 BTC in July due to advance payments for 330 days of future hashrate. The company's production and managed hashrate declined, with total output falling to 112 BTC from 125 BTC. Managed hashrate dropped to 14.2 EH/s from 15.3 EH/s.

The missing economics matter because BitFuFu said it would not pursue hashrate growth at the expense of unit economics. The July disclosure does not provide pricing, energy costs, uptime requirements, or cancellation protections for the prepaid capacity. This lack of transparency raises questions about whether the new purchase meets BitFuFu's earlier standard.

The company expects to reach approximately 20 EH/s by mid-August, but this would only show that the planned capacity arrived on management's timetable. It would not establish that production has recovered or that further reserve use will be required.
