Bitget Breach Sees $183 Million in Stolen Funds Converted to Ether
A recent security breach at Bitget has left a significant amount of cryptocurrency in the attacker's wallet. The incident saw the conversion of most stolen EVM-chain assets into Ether, with $183 million being tied up in the process.
The attack resulted in the transfer of 67,982 Ether (ETH) from various Ethereum Virtual Machine-compatible networks to a single crypto asset, creating a major crypto-security and market-liquidity event. This conversion accounts for more than half of the assets taken during the breach.
Bitget's linked hot wallets showed abnormal transfers during the incident, but the platform's cold wallets and most of its assets were not affected by the attack.
