Bitget Confirms $351M Hot Wallet Breach, Halts Withdrawals Amid Ongoing Investigation

Share

Crypto exchange Bitget has confirmed a major security breach involving unauthorized transfers from its hot wallets. The incident occurred at 18:31 UTC on September 24th, 2026, and was limited to a portion of its hot wallets, with the cold wallets remaining fully secure.

The overwhelming majority of platform assets remained unaffected, and user funds remain protected under Bitget's User Protection Fund, which currently holds more than $464 million. Customer account balances remain accurate, and deposits and trading continue to operate normally.

As a precautionary measure, withdrawals have been temporarily suspended while the exchange completes a comprehensive security review. The investigation is ongoing, and Bitget has declined to speculate on the attack vector until it is complete.
