Bitget Enters Bhutan's Gelephu Mindfulness City, Aims to Support Digital Finance Hub
Crypto exchange Bitget is expanding its global reach by entering Bhutan's Gelephu Mindfulness City (GMC), an autonomous economic zone focused on finance, technology, and wellness.
According to a recent agreement between Bitget and GMC authorities, the exchange aims to obtain a local digital-asset license and establish a presence in the region. This move is part of Bitget's effort to support growth in the local ecosystem and cultivate talent.
GMC, which is valued at around $100 billion, is using part of Bhutan's Bitcoin holdings to fund its development. The city has also partnered with Canadian digital-asset manager 3iQ to oversee some of its Bitcoin treasury holdings.
Bitget CEO Gracy Chen stated that GMC is emerging as a new hub for digital finance and that the exchange hopes to draw on its expertise to support growth in the region.
