Bitget Exchange Hacked for $351M, XRP and ETH Top Losses
Bitget, a cryptocurrency exchange, reported that approximately $351.6 million in assets were stolen after attackers accessed part of its hot and warm wallet infrastructure on September 24 at 18:31 UTC.
The largest share of the losses was attributed to XRP, with over 102.93 million units valued at around $157.5 million, followed by Ether (ETH) with 31,890 units worth about $85.8 million, according to on-chain tracker Lookonchain.
The exchange's security systems detected the unauthorized transfers and activated emergency response protocols immediately. Bitget said its cold wallets remain secure, and the incident was contained to online wallet systems.
The affected assets span multiple chains, including Ethereum, XRP Ledger, Arbitrum, Avalanche, Optimism, BNB Smart Chain, and Base, according to Bitget's CEO Gracy Chen.
