Bitget Exchange Hacked: Multiple Assets Affected by Security Incident
Bitget, a global digital-asset exchange, has revealed that several assets were affected by a recent security incident. The company disclosed that Ethereum (ETH), XRP, BNB, Avalanche (AVAX), Tether (USDT) and USD Coin (USDC) were among the affected assets.
The attack targeted various blockchains, including Ethereum, XRPL, Arbitrum, Avalanche, Optimism, BNB Smart Chain, and Base. Among these, the XRP Ledger (XRPL) suffered the biggest losses on a single-chain basis.
Bitget's cold wallets were unaffected by the incident, but withdrawal services remain suspended as the company works to confirm their safety. The exchange has also stated that its non-custodial wallet, Bitget Wallet, was not affected by the attack and operates independently.
In a statement, Gracy Chen, CEO of Bitget, mentioned that internet address activity and on-chain analysis suggest the attack method closely resembles previous patterns used by North Korean hacking groups. The company has reported the incident to relevant authorities and is cooperating with a global investigation.
