Bitget Exchange Hit by $351 Million Security Breach
The cryptocurrency exchange Bitget has been hit by a significant security breach, resulting in the unauthorized withdrawal of around $351 million. The incident occurred on September 24, when Bitget discovered that attackers had infiltrated its hot wallets.
In a statement, CEO Gracie Chen hinted at the possibility of North Korean hacker collectives being involved in the breach. Investigators have found connections to IP addresses associated with VPN services previously linked to these malicious entities.
The good news is that the private keys for users' hot, warm, and cold wallets remain intact, implying that user assets are primarily protected.
