Bitget Exits Japan Amid Strengthened Regulatory Landscape

Share

Bitget has announced it will discontinue its crypto trading services for users residing in Japan. The exchange cited Japan's increasingly strict financial regulations governing cryptocurrency exchanges as the reason for this decision.

The move is part of Bitget's efforts to align with regulatory requirements, which have become more stringent over time. Existing customers have been informed that they will no longer be able to maintain open trading positions beyond December 31st. The exchange has also stopped accepting new registrations from residents of Japan.

Bitget emphasized that the transition is intended to minimize disruptions for affected users while ensuring compliance with applicable financial regulations. The company has not indicated plans to resume services in Japan in the near future, suggesting its departure could remain in place until regulatory requirements can be fully satisfied.
