Bitget Expands into Bhutan with Gelephu Mindfulness City Partnership
Bitget, a popular cryptocurrency exchange, has made significant strides in its international expansion by announcing a cooperation agreement with Gelephu Mindfulness City Authority in southern Bhutan. The partnership aims to establish Bitget's presence in the region and obtain a Financial Services Licence from the Gelephu Financial Services Office.
The licence is crucial as it will enable Bitget to operate legally in Bhutan, which has been actively promoting digital assets through its Financial Services Act 2025. The law requires firms carrying out regulated financial or virtual asset activities to hold a licence.
Bhutan's unique approach to digital assets, combining long-term thinking with clean-energy advantages and regulatory clarity, caught the attention of Bitget's CEO, Gracy Chen. She views Bhutan as an emerging hotbed for digital finance and sees potential for growth in the region.
