Bitget Hack Contributes to Over $1 Billion in Crypto Security Losses for Q3
Crypto security incidents have resulted in over $1 billion in losses for the third quarter of 2026, according to data from blockchain security company CertiK.
The largest contributor to these losses was a $387.5 million hack of crypto exchange Bitget, which accounted for about 31% of Q3 losses and made it the quarter's largest recorded incident under CertiK's methodology.
This figure represents a 53.9% increase from Q2's $819.4 million in losses and a 13% rise in security incidents from 219 to 247.
