Bitget Hack Drives Q3 Crypto Security Losses Past $1 Billion
The third quarter of 2026 saw a significant increase in crypto security losses, reaching $1.26 billion according to data from blockchain security company CertiK.
This represents a 53.9% rise from the $819.4 million lost in Q2 and is largely attributed to the massive $387.5 million hack of crypto exchange Bitget.
The Bitget hack accounted for approximately 31% of Q3 losses, making it the quarter's largest recorded incident under CertiK's methodology.
